Rain displaces war refugees

More than 200 families are affected by torrential rains experienced in the Vanni region, said sources in the Vanni. One hundred and twenty-eight families in the Mulankaavil area were displaced as their makeshift huts were flooded and damaged by the continuing rains.

Sources said that another 78 families were affected by flooding in the Kariayaalai Nagapaduvaan area of the Vanni.

These families have sought refuge in school buildings in the Mulankaavil and Kariyaalai Naagapaduvaan areas. Sources said that these families were refugees affected by the ongoing war in the region.
