Abducted Tamil youth found shot dead in Trincomalee

A Tamil youth abducted on June 26 from his residence located in Paalaiyoothu was found shot dead at Thuvarankaadu junction, Thursday early morning, police sources said. The Uppuve'li Police visited the site where the body of the victim was lying, and removed the body to the Trincomalee general hospital for postmortem examination. The body had gunshot injuries to the head and the chest, hospital sources said.

Relatives of the deceased had made a complaint with the Uppuve'li Police and the Trincomalee regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) on June 27 that Selvanayagam Milroy, 31, had been abducted from his residence on June 26 night by unknown persons who arrived in a white van.

Trincomalee suburbs of Paalaiyoothu and Thuvarankaadu are located in the Uppuve'li division.
