Help sought identifying body

Professor Raveendra Fernando of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at the Faculty of Medicine in Colombo has requested help from relatives of the passengers who died when a Lion Air plane came down last year to identify a body. The body, which was in highly decomposed stage, was washed ashore in Mannar few days ago.

The body is believed to be that of a passenger of the ill-fated flight LNA 602 which crashed into the sea off Nachchikudah coast in the Mannar district on September 29 last year in mysterious circumstances.

The boy has been sent to the Forensic Department; Colombo University for identification.

The body is believed to be that of man between 20 and 45 years old; 5 ft height. A talisman was tied around its waist.
