Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers arrested a family man on suspicion Monday night after 9:00 p.m during curfew hours for being found walking close to the premises of Karaveddi SLA camp in Vadamaraadchi. The arrestee, handed over to Nelliyadi police, was produced in Point Pedro court Tuesday where the magistrate directed the police to produce the suspect before a Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) and obtain a medical report on his health conditions.
The arrested family man, 47-year-old, is a native of Pa’ndaiththarippu. Nelliyadi police produced the man before the JMO at Jaffna Teaching Hospital for medical inspection. Point Pedro magistrate said that the next step of action in this case will be taken only after ascertaining whether the man in question is mentally deranged, in consideration of the JMO’s medical report.
