6 Tamil youths of north arrested in Nuwara Eliya

Six Tamil youths, residents of Maangku'lam and Ki'llinochchi in Vanni and Nelliyadi in Jaffna district, arrested on August 19 while residing in a rented out house located in Elgin area in Nuwara Eliya-Lindula police division are being held in detention in the police station under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), Police said.
The owner of the house who is a UNP councilor of the Nuwara Eliya Pradeshiya Saba had been subjected to interrogation by the Terrorist Intelligence Division of the police. The police said they arrested the suspects on a report from the home guards in the area that they could be members of the LTTE. Meanwhile, a former member of the Nuwara Eliya who is a resident in Kandapola village arrested some days ago is still being held in detention under the PTA, according to Nuwara Eliya Senior Superintendent of Police, Gamini Maturata.
