Five Tigers killed in sea battle

The Voice of Tigers said last night that five Tigers, including two Lt.Colonels, were killed in a four hour mid sea battle with the Sri Lankan Navy (SLN)on Tuesday, January 12.

The radio said that the battle had raged in the seas off the coast of Kuchchaveli north of Trincomalee from about 1 a.m. in the early hours of the morning to 4 a.m.

The following, according to the VOT were killed in the fighting with the SLN:

1.Lt.Col. Erimalai (Thangathurai Kirupakaran of Jaffna)
2.Sea Tiger Lt.Col.Aathman (Immanuel Ilamaaran of Mannar)
3.Sea Tiger Captain Ilangkumaran (Mariathas Thevaraj or Siomi Nixon Thevaraj)
4.Captain Uthaya (Arumugam Selvarajah of Jaffna)
5.Lt.Periyannan (Yogenthiran Sivananthan of Jaffna)
