Violence in Sri Lanka's Northwestern Provincial polls continued as armed persons suspected to be members of the ruling People's Alliance (PA) shot at and stoned a convoy of campaign vehicles in which opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and UNP's general secretary Gamini Athukorala were travelling at Marawila this morning.
No one was injured in the incident said a Police source in Colombo. Last night a UNP MP of the Colombo district Premarathna Gunasekera was shot at in Wennappuwa. The MP was slightly wounded. The Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the incidents. Meanwhile, a child that claimed that he was Sri Lanka's slain President Ranasinghe Premadasa in his previous birth was abducted by an unknown group of persons who had come in a black BMW car today from his home in the hill country.
