Four detained in Vadamaradchi

Five persons of a family at Samarabaahu in Valvettithurai in Jaffna were arrested and detained by the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) on suspicion that they harboured a group of Liberation Tigers that had clashed with the army on Monday January 18 in the same area.
The body of a youth, suspected to be a member of the Liberation Tigers, was recovered by the SLA from the scene of the clash at Samarabahu in Valvettithurai. It was handed over to the hospital at Oorani. The SLA arrested six persons in connection with this incident. The detained persons of the family are: 1.Murugesu Sasikumar, 20 2.Murugesu Sriroobharaani, 23
3.Murugesu Jeyalogaraani, 25
4.Murugesu Suthaharan, 19 Mrs.Santhiralingam Gnanamma, 32, who was staying with the Murugesu family was also arrested. The SLA took into custody Sinnathamby Ravi, 23, of the same area in connection with the incident. The six persons are being detained in the SLA camp at the Pt.Pedro jetty. SLA sources in Pt.Pedro said that the suspects have to be interrogated further before a decision is taken on their case.
