SLAF Jaffna shuttle from Monday

A commercial service to fly civilians between Colombo and Jaffna by the Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) will begin on Monday January 25, the Civil Administration Office of the SLA in Jaffna announced today.
Sources in Jaffna said that the Civil Administration Office has requested the passengers who had applied for permission to fly to Colombo after January 1, to register their names tomorrow and the day after tomorrow with the Jaffna Civil Administration Officials in order to travel on Monday. The office has announced that the applications sent in before January 1 have been cancelled, the sources said. Officials have informed the public that the one way fare will be Rs.3000/- per passenger and Rs.5000/- (approximately 70 US $) for a return ticket. Sources said that 55 passengers can fly to Colombo at a time and officials have planned to do two services a day. A passenger will be allowed to take 15 kgs of luggage. Commercial items and electrical goods would not be permitted to be taken on the flight, the sources added.
