Inter-religious prayers held in Jaffna for Vanni Tamils

More than a hundred Saiva priests, representatives of social and Non-governmental organizations and others participated in the prayers held in Nallai Aatheenam located behind Nalloor Kanthasuvami Temple, led by Nallai Aatheenam Srilasiri Somasunthara Parmaachchaariya Suvamikal, Sunday from 9:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m, for the liberation of the suffering Tamils in Vanni, sources in Jaffna said.



The Committee for Justice, Peace and Goodwill (CJPG) in Jaffna which took part in the above prayers appealed to the people of Jaffna peninsula to pray for the humanitarian disaster in Vanni to stop.

Rev. Jeyasekaram of CJPG and S. Paramanathan of the Welfare Organization for Internally Displaced People in Jaffna peninsula participated in the above prayers.

A request was extended to all the people to pray for the Vanni Tamils observing the Maha Sivaraaththiri religious event Monday, at the end of the prayers held Sunday.
