Police arrest owner of Poobalasingam Book Depot in Colombo

Prevention of Terrorism branch police arrested the owner of Poobalasingam Book Depot, Sritharasing, for sending Tamil Nadu ‘Ananda Vikadan’ weekly magazine to Ratmalana Air port to be sent to Jaffna branch of Poobalsingam Book Depot when the police at Ratmalana air port found articles and photos in ‘Ananda Vikadan’ in favour of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Sritharasing’s relatives in Colombo said.
Prevention of Terrorism branch police who went to Sritharasing’s residence in Wellawathe arrested and detained him at Mount Lavinia police station, the relatives further said. The relatives of Sritharasing have registered complaints with Deputy Minister, P. Rathakrishnan and Mano Ganeshan, the leader of Democratic People’s Front and Colombo district parliamentarian. Poobalaisingam Book Depot, a popular institution serving the Tamils in Sri Lanka, has been the importer and distributor of the popular Tamil Nadu weekly Ananda Vikadan for more than three decades. The Ananda Vikadan issue in the above case is said to be containing articles and photos related to the recent LTTE air attack on Colombo, sales agents said.
