Sri Lanka Police issued an ultimatum Monday to all residents of North and East provinces currently staying in Colombo district without registering
their particulars at their local police stations, to do so before Tuesday. They
would be charged in court if they fail to do so before the deadline,
according to Police Spokesman, Ranjit Gunasekara.
Those North and East residents, who had already registered their particulars with the respective police station of the area they reside in Colombo, have been exempted from registering again. Police spokesman further told media that the police are to launch a
massive search operation in Colombo on the lapse the deadline to nab
those who had failed to register them with the police. Police said the operation is to be conducted to ensure to prevent infiltration of strangers in Colombo.
