Jaffna Teaching Hospital (JTH) administration informed Jaffna Government Agent Saturday that Defence ministry in Colombo has delayed meeting its request for urgently needed essential medical implements, very much affecting the services rendered, sources in Jaffna said.
The request for permission to ship 38 types of medical implements including a distilling plant to JTH remains unattended for long by the Defence Ministry, JTH informed the GA. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Health Ministry has not met the repeated requests of JTH administration for an Oxygen filling machine as the one in its possession has broken down beyond repair. The above mentioned implements are urgently needed to perform surgery and treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, JTH sources said.
