SLA searches for LTTE cadres in Vilpattu

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) launched a search operation Monday in Vilpattu wild life sanctuary on reports of the presence of strangers received from residents of the area, according to media reports quoting SLA sources.

Earlier, SLA had announced over loud speaker calling the LTTE cadres reportedly hiding in Vilpattu jungles to surrender themselves.

The search was launched as their call did not produce any positive response, the sources said.

Meanwhile, SLA had arrested some persons claiming that they had given food and fuel to the LTTE cadres hiding in Vilpattu jungles, media reports said.
