SSP’s son, wife, 12 policemen further remanded in abduction case

Fourteen suspects including the wife and son of the Senior Superintendent of Police Vass Gunawardene were further remanded Tuesday by Kaduwala Magistrate in connection with abduction and assault of a student. The Magistrate said his court has no jurisdiction to hear bail application and it should be made to the High Court. “Hence I reject the bail application and I order further remand till September 15,”the Magistrate said in his order, legal sources said.

Nipuna Ramanayake, the victim in the abduction and assault incident and another witness identified the main suspect and four other police officers as the persons who had assaulted them in an identification parade held before the Kaduwala Additional District Judge and Magistrate Mahanil Prasantha de Silva Monday.
