Body of SLA soldier recovered dead in Jaffna identified

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) officers Thursday identified the body of the soldier recovered dead with gunshot injuries Thursday morning. Jaffna magistrate Mr. Vasanthasenan who conducted the inquest into the death at the site where the body was found ordered post mortem examination to be held, sources in Jaffna said.

The soldier killed was identified as Liyanage Maheshkumara, 20.

Maheshkumara, who had gone to Peoples Bank in Jaffna town with four of his friends had gone missing and later found dead, according to the statement of SLA officials at the inquest.
