2 students drown in temple pond in Jaffna

Two teenage students who bathed in Nanthaavil Amman temple pond in Kokkuvil East in Jaffna drowned Friday. One of them died in the pond while the other died while being taken to hospital. Both bodies were handed over to Jaffna Teaching Hospital mortuary.

One of the victims, Ranjan Mayooran, 15, of Koa'ndaavil East and a student of Koa'ndaavil Hindu Mahaaviththiyaalayam died in the pond.

The other, Ravi Ravimathan, 18, of Koa'ndaavil East and a student of Koa'ndaavil Paranchchoathi Viththîyaalayam died while being taken to hospital.

All ponds and wells in Jaffna peninsula are full to the brim because of the continuing monsoon rains.
