Police arrest 6 Batticaloa Tamils

Six Tamil farmers, two each from Unnichchai, Aayithimalai and Vavunatheivu in Batticaloa district were taken into custody by Maha Oya Police Saturday near the border of two districts Batticaloa and Ampaarai when they went in search of cattle that have strayed across the borders.

The six Tamils had informed the police station in their area before leaving to the border of the Ampaarai district that their cattle.

Maha Oya Police had confirmed to local leaders who complained in this regard the six Tamils had been in their custody and subjected to interrogation.
