Narrow victory for ruling coalition

Sri Lankas ruling coalition, the People's Alliance (PA) narrowly won elections to the five Provincial Councils held yesterday. The PA took 130 seats in the five Councils while the main opposition party, the United National Party (UNP) took 112, of the total 273 seats.

The elections were held to the Western, Northcentral, Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provincial councils.
