Commander of the Sri Lanka Army from proceeding with the first Court
Martial against General Sarath Fonseka until May 21.The President of
the Appeal Court Justice Sathya Hettige dissented from the majority
decision of the bench.
The first Court Martial was appointed to inquire into charges against
Fonseka of engaging in politics while in service as the Chief of
Defence Staff. The second court martial against Fonseka alleging a tender
irregularity in buying weapons is scheduled to resume Tuesday. But Fonseka has informed the second court martial that he would not attend
