Nominations called for Southern PC elections

The Elections Commissioner's Department today called for nominations to the Southern Provincial Council to be submitted. The nominations will be accepted at Galle, Hambantota and Matara from today, April 22 till April 29, it said.

The Elections are expected to be held between 5 and 8 weeks after the closure of nominations.

One and a half million eligible voters in the province will elect 53 councillors to the PC. (Galle District-22 seats, Matara district 17 seats and Hambantota 14 seats).
