Protesters storm Kotelawala residence

Chairman of Ceylinco Consolidated, Lalith Kotelawala, was confined to house yesterday for more than 12 hours after a group of angry Golden Key depositors surrounded his Bambalapitiya residence demanding him to immediately pay the depositors the lost deposits allegedly swindled in a massive scandal. More than 20 angry depositors stormed into Kotelawala’s residence premises and surrounded him, barring him from going out of his home.

The protestors’ had tried to commence a fast, sources said.

However, Mr. Kotelawala had then called the police who had come to the site and arrested five protesters, while the others had fled the scene on seeing the police arrive.
