Three policemen wounded

Three Policemen were wounded when the Liberation Tigers attacked the forward defence lines of the Police at Sector 2 in the general area of Uyilankulam about 15 km. south of Mannar island on Sunday around 5.30 p.m., sources said.

The LTTE fired mortars on the Police defence lines said the sources.

However, the Sri Lanka Police sources said the attack was repulsed.

The wounded Policemen have been rushed to the Anuradhapura hospital.

Meanwhile, K.Ganesh the Government Agent Vavuniya said that 15 lorry loads of foodstuff and kerosene have been despatched to the Vanni this morning.
