MoD announces new LTTE training programme

A statement released by the Ministry of Defence today said that the LTTE had started a new military training programme in the Vanni that would "not only to replenish cadres lost in confrontation but also provide a ready bank of recruits."

The MoD statement gave details of the training programme.

"The training program is being conducted at school from 8-9 a.m. for teachers and students above grade 9, and for civilians in the age group 20-28 the program is from 4 to 6 P.M daily," the statement said.

According to the statement the head of the LTTE's education unit, Ambu, has suggested a "format" that teachers in the Vanni could use.

The statement further said that a card is presented by the LTTE on the completion of the programme that entitles trainees to various benefits.
