Third NEPC service planned

The third Governor's administrative mobile service of the North East Provincial Council will be held at Batticaloa, during the middle of next month, NEPC sources said.

Mr.S.T.Markandu, Provincial Secretary to the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture and Food has been appointed as the chief co-ordinator, by the Governor, for this project.

The first administrative mobile service of the NEPC was held at Ampara in January this year. The second mobile service was held at Vavuniya.

Now, the Governor Major General Asoka Jayawardhene has decided to hold the third administrative mobile service in Batticaloa, instead in Jaffna.

The idea of holding the third mobile service in Jaffna has been abandoned due to transport difficulties confronted by the NEPC administration based in Trincomalee, sources said.
