SLA shells land near school

The Sri Lankan army at the Vavunathivu camp northwest of the Batticaloa town fired mortar and artillery this afternoon in the direction of the Paduvankarai region which is controlled by the LTTE.

Several shells fell near the Kurinchmunai school where end of term exams were in progress. School children and teachers dispersed in panic for cover. Casualties have not been reported.
