Photo journalists receive money from UNP leader

The leader of the United National Party (UNP), Ranil Wickremasinghe gave hundred thousand rupees to Sri Lanka's photojournalists' Association today. This was given to help journalists whose equipment were damaged by pro-government thugs during the attack on a rally by the opposition on June 15 said UNP sources.

The money was handed over by Mr.Wickremasinghe to the secretary of the photojournalists' Association Mr.U. Weerasingha at the opposition leader's office in Colombo.

Meanwhile the women's wing of the UNP, the United Sri Lanka Women's Front, staged protest rally and barricaded Company Street in downtown Colomb this noon to protest against the ill treatment of women by the PA regime.
