Kopai businessman abducted

A businessman, Ratnam Nadarajah, 46, was abducted by unidentified men in a white van around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1. He was later released at Navaly cemetery after being severely assaulted, his relatives said.

Nadarajah of Kopai south was on his way to the Kalviyankadu market when he was abducted. He was then blindfolded and taken away to an unidentified place and severely assaulted, according to the relatives.

They were at a loss to give a motive for the kidnapping. He is currently recovering for his ordeal at the Jaffna Teaching hospital.
