Priest threatened

The Parish Priest of the Vankalai St. Ann's Church, Rev. Thevasagayampillai who had complained to authorities about the army rampage in the village last night has been intimidated by the Sri Lankan Police yesterday said sources.

Sources said a group of policemen had gone to the church Tuesday afternoon and threatened to assault him.

The policemen had also warned him not to get involved in the incidents in the village.

Meanwhile police ordered businessmen and residents of Vankalai to put out white flags to mourn policemen who were killed in the attack Monday.

Residents who failed to put flags were threatened, sources said.

Tension prevails in the village the sources added.
