Claymore blast near Mannar[TamilNet, Monday, 25 October 1999, 09:15 GMT]A Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldier was killed and 11 wounded when a bus in which they were travelling in was hit by a claymore blast near Uylankulam, about 15 km. south of Mannar town, on the Vavuniya-Mannar road this morning around 10 a.m. said sources. Seven wounded soldiers have been transferred to the Anuradhapura hospital while two underwent surgery at Vavuniya hospital, the sources added. The bus was severely damaged in the blast, sources said. Further details are not known. All transport on the Vavuniya-Mannar road was disrupted following the attack, the sources added.
