Doctor detained over attack on Police

A doctor was detained by the Police today in connection with the attack on the police post at Sakamam road, in Akkaraipattu, on Wednesday, 27 October said sources.

Dr. V. Dayanantharajah was summoned to the police station today for an inquiry after blood stained cloths were recovered when the police searched his house yesterday, the poice said.

Dr. Dayanantharajh is believed to have treated wounded attackers the police added.

Meanwhile, three others were also detained in connection with the attack, police said.

The police post at Sakamam road was attacked on Wednesday night around 9.45 p.m. A policeman was killed and three wounded in the attack, according to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Defence.
