Athukorale lodges rights complaint

Gamini Athukorale UNP General Secretary and Parliamentarian has complained to the Supreme Court that the transfer of his personal Security Officer, Inspector Chandrasiri was a denial of his fundamental rights.

In his fundamental rights application filed in Supreme Court he states that his personal security officer was transferred on November 26, 1999 by the Inspector General of Police due to pressure from his political rivals.

This was done to adversely affect his campaign in favour the UNP Presidential candidate.
