Minister sues Asia Week

Damages in a sum of twenty-five million US dollars have been claimed from the Hong Kong based internationally reputed magazine Asia Week by the Minister of Special Assignment, Nanada Mathew, for publishing an article in the November 19 issue of the magazine, defamatory of him.

In a letter addressed to Asia week Magazine through his lawyer A. A. M. Marleen, Minister Mathew states that he had been in the political life of the country as a Parliamentarian, as Deputy Minister, District Minister and Minister at different times, and this publication has damaged his political and public image gravely particularly in the context of the Presidential polls campaign he stated.
