Released detainee found dead

The body of Christy Jesuthsan,25, was found washed ashore at Pallimunai, a suburb of Mannar town, this afternoon said sources. He had been arrested by the Counter Subversive Unit (CSU) of the Police and later released by the Mannar Magistrate Mr.Ilancheliyan on October 14.

An inquest was held by Additional Magistrate for Mannar District.

Jesuthsan's relatives testifying at the inquest said the youth went fishing three days ago and had not returned since.

It was revealed at the inquest that the youth had suffered several blows to the head.
