Three bodies wash ashore

Three unidentified male bodies with head injuries washed ashore at Pallimunai area, near the cemetery, yesterday afternoon. The bodies were brought to the Mannar hospital by the Police around 5 p.m. in the evening said sources.

One gold ring marked with the letters 'HR', and two Casio wristwatches with black straps were found on these bodies, Police said.

On information given to M. Ilancheliyan, Mannar District Judge, he visited the scene and ordered the Police to hand over the bodies to the hospital. The Judge instructed the District Medical Officer (DMO) to hold the post mortem and report.

Inspector of Police Magedera, OIC Crimes of Mannar Police, was ordered by the Judge to record the statements of people who saw the bodies washed ashore.

Source said the two of the bodies were found in underwear and one in shorts. They added the bodies are within the age group of 18 to 32.
