Bribery Commissioners assume office

Newly appointed members of the Sri Lankan governments Bribery Commission assumed office today. The Chairman of the Commission is Mr.T.Anandacoomarasamy, retired Supreme Court Judge.

The other two members are: T.N.Abeyawira, retired Appeal Court Judge and Kingsley Wickremasuriya, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police.

Although the new commissioners assumed office, no staff is available for them to function, said sources.

The Police Investigation Unit of the Commission manned by police personnel is also without necessary staff.

One Commissioner said that the Commission would function only after the Presidential election.
