New Tamil group mooted

A new political group comprising north, east and upcountry Tamils is likely to be formed, political circles said.

Mr. K. Periyasamy from Kandy is behind this move, Tamil sources said.

Mr. Kumar Ponnambalam, President of the All Ceylon Tamil Congress , Mr.M.S.Sellasamy, President of the Ceylon National Workers Union and Mr.P.Chandrasekaran, President of the Upcountry Peoples Front are said to be backing this move, sources said.

Mr. Ponnambalam said he would take steps to organize this group in the north east if Mr.Periyasamy's move succeeds in upcountry areas.
