Six casualties in Muttur clash

Four Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers and two members of the Liberation Tigers were killed in a confrontation at Uppooral area, between Muttur and Eechilampthu, in the Trincomalee District on Saturday morning the Tigers said.
Security sources said the clashes erupted when the Liberation Tigers attacked soldiers from Pattiyadi Camp, who were patrolling the area. Meanwhile two transformers were blasted in the first two days of January this year in the Trincomalee District, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) officials said. A transformer at Periyapalam, 2 km south of Muttur town was blasted on Saturday night around 11.30 p.m, CEB officials said. Another transformer at Paththinipuram in Tampalakamam division was blasted on Sunday night, the officials said.
