Special force to combat Tigers in capital

A special Police unit has been formed to battle the Liberation Tigers in Sri Lanka's capital. Senior Police investigator Bandula Wickremasingha will be in charge of the unit Police sources in Colombo said.
The unit will function as a rapid deployment force to counter the threat of the Liberation Tigers in the city. It will combat the LTTE suicide operations against key targets in the city in particular, Police sources said. There will be more than a hundred specially trained and equipped Police commandos in this rapid deployment force in the city they added. Meanwhile, three persons were arrested in Negombo by Police investigators today in connection with the sporadic bomb blasts in and around the Colombo since early this year.
