Tiger flag hoisted over Elephant Pass

One of the senior military commander of the Liberation Tigers Col.Banu hoisted the Tiger flag over Elephant Pass around 9.30 a.m. this morning, LTTE sources in London told TamilNet.

Col.Banu is the commander of the LTTE's artillery unit who played a crucial role in the battle of Elephant Pass, the sources said.

"A large number of civilians along with the Tiger fighters took part in the flag raising ceremony that symbolized the conquest of a strategically important region by the Liberation Tigers", an LTTE official told TamilNet.

Meanwhile the Liberation Tigers with the help of civilians are engaged in clearing the vast areas of Iyakkachchi-Elephant Pass, the sources added.
