SLA bodies transfer tomorrow -ICRC

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said that the Liberation Tigers had got in touch with its delegation in the Vanni this evening about handing over the bodies of the Sri Lanka army soldiers who were killed in the fighting yesterday in Pallai and its environs.

The Tigers are expected to hand over to the ICRC about 45-50 bodies of SLA soldiers at Akkaraayan tomorrow morning ICRC spokesman Harasha Gunawardena said.

Mr.Gunawardena told TamilNet that the SLA has agreed to the transfer of the bodies to Vavuniya tomorrow.

The bodies would be transferred across the lines near Vavuniya by evening tomorrow SLA sources in Vavuniya said.

Meanwhile six Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were wounded when a truck in which they were travelling was hit by a claymore blast on the interior road between Poovarasankulam and Iranai iluppaikulam, northwest of Vavuniya, security sources said.

The wounded were soldiers were admitted to the Anuradhapura hospital, the sources said.
