No confidence motion against speaker by UNP

The no-confidence motion brought against the Speaker, Mr.K.B.Ratnayakae, by the United National Party has been included in the order book. The date for the debate on the motion will be decided at the party leaders' meeting to be held on the 10th of next month.

41 members of the United National Party have signed the no-confidence motion. The reason for the no confidence was that the UNP Parliamentarian Ronnie de Mel who was not scheduled to speak at the debate on the extension of the State of Emergency on 6th of this month had been given leave to address the house.
