Tigers ambush Police in Mannar

A military trained Sri Lanka Policeman was killed and another wounded when the Liberation Tigers ambushed a Police party at Thottavely, five kilometres from Mannar town on the road to Talaimannar Wednesday around 12.45 p.m. The Police party was travelling in a tractor when the Tigers opened fire sources said.

The Policeman killed in the attack was identified as Reserve Police Constable Wijesuriya. His body was brought to the Mannar hospital later in the afternoon. The Mannar judge who saw the body directed the coroner to conduct an inquest and hand over the RPC's body to the Mannar Police Headquarters Inspector.
