Tigers ask civilians to leave war zone
[TamilNet, Friday, 29 September 2000, 03:35 GMT]
The Liberation Tigers Friday asked civilians living in the army controlled sector of the Thenmaradchi division of Jaffna to leave their villages and find safety in the Vadamaradchi division of the peninsula according to the morning news broadcast of the Voice of Tigers.
The Tigers called on civilians living in Kodikamam, Mirusuvil, Kachchaai, Mandhuvil, Puttur and Varani to leave towards safer areas in Vadamaradchi, the radio said. The Tigers are requesting people to leave because the Sri Lanka army is concentrating forces and setting up new defences in the areas specified by them (the Tigers) as unsafe for civilians, according to VoT. Meanwhile, the radio gave the names of 25 Tiger troopers who were killed in Operation Unceasing Waves IV. The VoT said that the LTTE's battle formations are continuing to push ahead in the Thenmaradchi east sector.
