CTTU requests meeting with Education Minister

The Ceylon Tamil Teachers Union (CTTU) has sought an interview with the new Minister of Education to discuss problems faced by Tamil medium students and teachers before 15th of November.
In the meantime, the Secretary of the Ceylon Tamil Teachers Union Mr.T.Mahasivam said in statement that the education of students in the Jaffna peninsula has been badly affected due to the faulty distribution of Tamil medium text books by the State Publication Department He said that till October not a single text book for Maths, English reading, English Practical and Tamil Literature for Year 10 and Maths for Year 2 had been distributed to Jaffna students. He added that his Union would take up this matter with the President and the Minister of Education and demand disciplinary action against those officials responsible for the lapse in distributing Tamil medium textbooks.
