Students of the Jaffna Technical College (JTC) have been boycotting the classes since Thursday demanding the immediate release of a student E. Sri Ranganthan who was arrested by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers last week.
The final examination of the Jaffna Technical College is scheduled to commence on December 2. In order to enable Sri Ranganathan to sit for the final examination, the student union of the Jaffna Technical College has requested the District parliamentarians and education authorities to take immediate steps to release him from the army custody. As all attempts in this regard have failed, now the students of the JTC are boycotting the classes. The Students' Union has appealed to their counterparts in the Jaffna University and other schools to extend support to their action.
