The house of Mr.U.L.M.Mohideen, Ampara District SLMC Parliamentarian, was attacked with grenades around 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. Three policemen guarding the MP's house in Samanthurai were injured. The MP was away in Colombo when the attack took place, police sources said.
Mr.Mohideen is one of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress parliamentarians who refused to resign from the government parliamentary group with former Minister Rauff Hakeem. Mr.Mohideen is supporting Minister Ms Ferial Ashraff in the power struggle between her and Mr.Rauff Hakeem. Mr.Mohideen's supporters said that the grenade attack was in retaliation to the grenade attack on the Kalmunai SLMC's office of Rauff Hakeem's group, early morning Wednesday. Two of the wounded policemen were admitted to the Ampara hospital and one to the Sammanthurai hospital.
