LTTE political group arrives Trincomalee

Four members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam arrived east port town of Trincomalee, Tuesday around noon by sea from Mutur. The LTTE members led by Trincomalee district political administrative secretary Mr.Iynkaran were given an emotional welcome when they landed at the town civilian jetty.

The LTTE's political group comprised Mr.Iynkaran, Mr.Thooyavan, Mr.Kalaichelvan and Ms Kaaronja left Sampoor, a LTTE held village in Mutur east Tuesday morning around 9.30.

Its officer in charge Major Mahinda of SLA, Mutur Divisional Secretary Mr.A.Nadarajah, gave them a warm send off at Kattaiparichchan army camp checkpoint.

Later they left Mutur by a passenger motor launch "SERUVILA". When the passenger motor launch was proceeding to jetty, a SL navy gun boat and a patrol craft were seen patrolling the harbour.

A large number people thronged the town civilian jetty to witness the arrival of LTTE's political group. The crowd carried aloft Mr.Iynkaran who is to head the Trincomalee District Office of the LTTE.

They were taken in a procession along Post Office Road, Power House Road to the district office located at Green Road. Large cut-outs of LTTE leader Mr.Vellupillai Pirapaharan were put up at the main junctions in the town, to mark the occasion.

Thereafter the district political office of the LTTE was declared open by the head of the Trincomalee Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission Ms Victor Lund.

The other foreign monitor Mr.Potsun Westrom was also present. Venerable Dharmaretna Thera, Viharadhipathi of the BuddhistVihare participated at the opening ceremony of the district office. Major C.Gunawardene represented the Sri Lanka Army.
