[TamilNet, Monday, 29 April 2002, 18:40 GMT]
"The interim administration is a necessary condition for restoring normal life in our homeland that has been destroyed by more than eighteen years of war waged on us by the Sri Lankan state. Therefore it is also an absolutely necessary condition for sustaining our people's faith in this peace process, said Mr. M. K Sivajilingam, Tamil National Alliance MP for Jaffna, addressing the function at the opening of the political office of the Liberation Tigers for the Vadamaradchi division of the northern peninsula Monday morning.

"If the Sinhala polity wilfully sabotages the talks to establish an interim administration for the Northeastern province then no power on this earth can stop the creation of Thamileelam," the Tamil parliamentarian said.

The LTTE's political wing office for Vadamaradchi was opened at Vembadi Street in Aathikoiladi in the town of Valvettithurai around 10.30 a.m. Monday.

Mr. S. Sooriyakumaran, the President of the powerful federation of fisherman's cooperatives of Vadamaradchi presided at the opening ceremony. Dr. Myilerumperumal, the District Medical Officer of the Valvettithurai hospital, and Mr. S. Sivagnanasundram, the President of the Pt. Pedro Co-operative society, also spoke the function.

The LTTE official in charge of political work in the Vadamaradchi division, Mr. Barathy, and the head of the LTTE's political office for Jaffna, Mr. Ilamparuthi (Aanjeneyar) addressed the gathering.

Meanwhile, 28 members of the LTTE's political wing came to Jaffna Monday evening under the terms of the cease-fire agreement between the Liberation Tigers and Colombo.

Their entry was delayed because the Sri Lanka army at the Muhamalai entry point to Jaffna had insisted on body search.

Mr. M. H Mohammed, a senior minister of the UNF government who is in charge of developing the western province of the island visited Jaffna Monday. He met with government official and traders of the northern town before flying to the island of Nainathivu later on Monday afternoon.
