SLMM head discusses violations in Trinco

The head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) Major General (Retd) Trond Furuhovde Friday held extensive discussions with officers of the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Army in Trincomalee regarding complaints of alleged cease-fire violations in the district.
The SLMM head discussed with the naval officials mainly the shooting incident in Nilaveli, 14 km north of Trincomalee town, last Monday night in which two Tamil women were wounded due to Navy gunfire, informed sources said. Earlier Major General Trond Furuhovde addressed the meeting of the Trincomalee district SLMM at its office. Monitors appointed by the government and the LTTE participated. Ms Victoria Lund, Norwegian head of the Trincomalee SLMM and her Swedish assistant Pontius Westrom were associated in the discussion following the meeting. Later in the afternoon Major general Furuhovde left Trincomalee by special naval boat to meet the LTTE district leaders at Sampoor village in the LTTE held Mutur east.
